how the house runs
House Rules
Last reviewed: this season.
These are the terms of use for MATINEE. Booking a seat or stepping past the curtain means you're happy to play them out with us. Nothing here is a plot twist — it's the same courtesy that keeps twenty-six stations, four boxes and a quiet balcony running smoothly for everyone in the room. (the venue and you, on the same programme)
Curtain times & booking
We run three shows a day: the Matinee from opening, the Evening from early prime hours, and the late Night show through to close. Reserve a seat and a show through the booking form, or walk in and take any open station. Plans change — if yours do, tell us before your show starts and we release the seat with no fuss. You only ever spend house time-credit for hours actually at a station, so a cancelled booking costs nothing but the message.
Seats, boxes & stations
- The stalls are open rows — grab any free seat, or line up a few for a squad.
- A box is booked by the hour for the whole cabin, not per head; keep voice chat inside its walls.
- The balcony row is for long, quiet runs — mind the hush the seat is there to keep.
- Bring your own keyboard, mouse, headset or controller and plug into any station; just take your gear home when the curtain falls.
Conduct in the house
Keep it easy for the row beside you. Voice chat at a fair volume, headsets on for anything loud, and no leaning into a neighbour's session uninvited. Our competitive nights are about points and personal best times — never money on the line. There is no wagering of any kind at MATINEE, and anyone trying to arrange it will be shown to the exit.
Refreshments & care
Lidded drinks are welcome at any seat, and the intermission lounge is there for the messier snacks so the gear stays clean. Treat the hardware as yours for the hour: report a fault at the box office rather than wrestling with it, and we'll move you to another seat. Leave the screen, chair and desk as you found them so the next playgoer sits down to a clean house.
Curtain call — liability
We keep the equipment maintained and the hall in good order, but you play at your own comfort. Look after your belongings; the venue isn't responsible for personal items left in the stalls or the boxes. We may revise these rules as the season runs on — the current cast list always lives here, alongside our privacy policy. Step back to the main stage any time.
